I've had a British Christmas pudding sitting on top of my refrigerator for more than a year. The packaging promises it's sturdy enough to eat until September 2012, which means this year is the last chance to eat it in season.
So a few of us decided jump the gun and set it alight during the Thanksgiving weekend. British pal Tina killed the lights and snapped pud pics as we anointed it with flaming hot brandy. The images are wonderfully spooky. This was my first time tasting Christmas pudding, a dish many Brits seem to love to hate. I was warned to keep expectations low. Maybe it was the low bar, but I actually liked the fruity, nutty and above all, boozy treat. /markChristmas Pudding Torched Early
