In one week, KFC will release the much-anticipated Double Down. It's two pieces of fried chicken with cheese and bacon in the middle (see photos). The key question for us is: Is this a sandwich? I have long believed that a breadless sandwich is possible, so I'm inclined to say yes. The Double Down is a layered food which can be picked up and eaten with one's hands, without the food losing shape or structure or falling apart. And isn't that the essence of a sandwich? That's how I feel, but what say you? /dp
