Canada Day is nearly upon us, and we're celebrating with an episode on the french fry, gravy, cheese curd heavenslice known as poutine. We'll also talk about other food awesomeness from north of the border.
We're learning a lot from our Canadian listeners, and picking up some interesting ideas and opinions. A cross-cultural poutine variation is one e-mail that caught our attention. Sarah from Toronto loves poutine so much, she sets it free to marry lasagna. Her younger brother's "pousagna" recipe is delightfully simple:
Fill a baking dish with cooked fries, cheese, and gravy. Then add more fries, cheese, mushrooms and then more gravy. Put in the oven for 10 to 15 minutes.
I haven't tried making this yet, but I'm fully behind any recipe that includes the words "and then more gravy." /mark
