The Shattuck Tornado: Oklahoma’s New Weather-Themed Dessert

There are many famous weather-themed desserts out there, from the Dairy Queen Blizzard to the McDonald's McFlurry to the Wendy's Frosty. But the only tornado-themed dessert I know of is the Texas Tornado Cake, and famed Oklahoma meteorologist Gary England says in this week's Sporkful that Texas doesn't have enough major tornadoes to lay claim to a tornado-themed dessert.

So Gary and I set out to create a dessert worthy of Oklahoma weather and came up with the Shattuck Tornado, named after a small town in western Oklahoma (pop. 1,356) where there's a strong contingent of Sporkful listeners. (It's the Morse family. If you're ever in town, say hello to them.)

To make a Shattuck Tornado, start with cherry cobbler and top it with vanilla ice cream and hot fudge. Then drizzle it with Gary's secret weapon -- 360 Double Chocolate Vodka. Before serving, mix it up with a fork so it looks like a tornado ran through it.
