When Is It OK To Send Food Back?

This week's bonus mini episode of The Sporkful podcast is up! Listen through the player or iTunes/Podcasts app. (And please subscribe!)

Should you send a dish back to the kitchen simply because you don't love it? Or should you just suck it up and eat it anyway? Sporkful listener Lynn and her dad, Joseph, are at odds.

Lynn thoroughly enjoyed a plate of bacon-wrapped scallops at a local restaurant one night. A few nights later she ordered scallops somewhere else and they weren't as good. Her dad thought she should send them back to the kitchen. Lynn disagreed. She thought there was nothing wrong with the scallops; she just didn't care for them.

So she called in the big guns, and sought advice from Dan and Serious Eats food science guru Kenji Lopez-Alt, author of The Food Lab cookbook.

Listen to the episode to find out the exciting resolution to this family feud.
