Clinton-Gingrich Spork Summit: Looking for Answers

Do you know what brought Bill Clinton and Newt Gingrich together over a spork? We'd love any intelligence about this picture of a brief pause in their political combat that ran in the NYT recently. The caption says they were "sharing a joke in 1995," and the President is in black tie. So I'm assuming it was one of the correspondents dinners where pols try their hand at comedy. If you know anything about this crucial moment in American political history, spill it in the comments.

Since the whole Slurpee thing is a bust, perhaps President Barack Obama and presumptive Speaker John Boehner should consider jointly clasping a spork and looking for ways to work together. The spork, after all, is the ultimate Third Way. /mark
