In the new Slate video series "Food-Off Face-Off", Dan competes with Liza de Guia of Food Curated in totally absurd cooking challenges. In the first episode they pick a number from a hat, and that's the only supermarket aisle they can shop in.

Dan and Liza each cook one entree and one dessert using only ingredients from the chosen aisle. Then Erin Zimmer of Serious Eats and Mike Pesca of NPR act as judges. It gets weird.
