Kit Kat Kerfuffle Engulfs Innocent Young Boy

In this week's Halloween episode, Sporkful Eater and candy blogger Patti from Connecticut laid out a very elaborate and potentially controversial Kit Kat consumption method. But even if they don't subscribe to her complicated eating philosophy, most Kit Kat fans can agree that it's a lot more fun to eat the Kit Kat by breaking apart the fingers, rather than just biting the whole thing like a cheeseburger.

Patti was very curious how her son, pictured here, would handle his first Kit Kat. She was horrified at what happened:

OHMYGOD! He DIDN'T break off a finger. He went for the full solid bite. How is this possible? Isn't it intuitive to break off a finger? I pointed out the sections to him and suggested that he should try to break them apart. He wanted no part of that idea.

Sporkful is often on the cutting edge of Eating research, but here perhaps we've uncovered a childhood developmental issue that Piaget missed. Further research is clearly needed. /mark
