Sporkful Live: ‘Is This Food Racist?’

The Sporkful returns to WNYC's Greene Performance Space March 24th for another live podcast and tickets are on sale now! Guests will include actress Rosie Perez and artist Ashok Kondabolu (aka Dapwell), formerly of the seminal hip-hop group Das Racist.

Where's the line between culinary cross-pollination and cultural appropriation? Is a burrito filled with sushi (like San Francisco's "Sushirrito") a beautiful symbol of the American melting pot or an offensive bastardization of two proud cuisines?

Should chefs cook food from a culture they weren't born into? What does it say that the best known Mexican chef in America is a white guy from Oklahoma?

What assumptions do we make about a restaurant based on the color of the people working there, and what assumptions do they make about us based on what we look like? We'll tackle these questions and more in this live taping, which kicks off a three-part podcast series entitled "Is This Food Racist?"

Get your tickets now to see The Sporkful live!
