s’mores

The Sporkful

This story of s'more improvisation didn't quite fit in our latest episode, but you might find it useful, especially if you're ever craving s'mores in the proximity of a bar, oilcan inferno and an Asian restaurant. It can be done. We have done it. /mg

The Sporkful

We move beyond the traditional combo of marshmallow, chocolate, and graham cracker to experiment with alternative ingredients like peanut butter and ginger snaps, and alternative structures like mini graham cracker pie crusts. See photos of Nathaniel's back yard research here, and Dan's mini pie crust approach here.

S’more Better S’Mores

I love the ingredients of s'mores, but I have a few issues with the way thse ingredients come together. First, I think that graham crackers are a subpar sandwich base, because they're so hard. When you bite into a s'more, you too often lose half the filling out the back, or the cracker splinters and the s'more falls apart entirely.

Inside Nathaniel’s S’more Lab

Eight-year-old Nathaniel Goodyear joins us next week for a special show about s'mores. In preparation for the show, he conducted a series of experiments on alternative s'more ingredients (pics below). I'll be doing work with alternative s'more structures over the weekend, and will post pics next week. It's all in search of a More Better S'more. /dp See the full gallery
