I had the great fortune of a long, booze-soaked dinner with some Hawaii-based food writers the other day. As we discussed earlier, I was lucky enough to get a work trip routed through Hawaii and asked for advice. One of the most insightful commenters on Hawaii's food was Ryan Ozawa, who turns out also to be a social media genius with the early adopter Twitter handle @hawaii. He invited me to dine with some local experts and I gladly accepted.
That night was the highlight of a highlight-heavy Hawaii visit. I'll blog it properly after I am back and settled, but for now, check out what some of the other attendees have already posted:Nonstop Honolulu (with lots of pics of eats and eaters eating that night)
Hawaii Grinds (includes a roll call of Twittering attendees)
Anthony Quintano (photoset of the evening)
Nonstop Honolulu (video of my nascent theory on eating an iconic Japanese dessert I brought from Hiroshima to share with Honolulu eaters)
Ryan Ozawa (a behind the scenes video of the above, perhaps for the special features of the inevitable DVD)
Burt Lum (video of my fiancee and I sharing a kalua pig slider using a method described as "distressing, but touching") More later! /mark Photo: Anthony Quintano
