You've heard the audio podcasts of our cravings call-in shows; this Friday you can see what they look like on TV. A Food Network crew was with us when we recorded them. (Many thanks to our pals at Slate, who were kind enough to let us borrow their real-deal radio studio to make us look all fancy on TV, rather than just recording it at our cramped apartments like we normally do.)
The crew was profiling us for the show My Life in Food on Cooking Channel. (Find Cooking Channel in your area here.) In addition to shooting us recording the podcast, they take us to Brookhaven National Lab to shove us into a brain scan machine and tease us with cheeseburger taste and aroma in the name of scientific inquiry about what's really going on in your head when you crave great food. And since it's a Food Network shoot, we took full advantage and made sure to get all the free food and beer we could handle out of the deal (and a little more - I took home leftovers, shhhh). We had a great time and can't wait to see what the talented folks producing the show have come up with. I fully expect us to look extremely silly in the brain scanning machine and in other situations. Our episode debuts Friday at 9:30p Eastern on Cooking Channel. The episode page has details on times when it will repeat. Tune in and/or DVR it and watch us be tortured. Unfortunately I'm stuck working the night it airs, so I won't be watching live, but Dan will tweet throughout the hour with his reactions. /markPhoto: Flickr CC / cloudzilla
