In last week's Sporkful podcast on tequila, guest Ilana Edelstein, author of The Patron Way, mentioned that she had a recipe for a Patron Sangrita that the company never ended up producing. (Sangrita is the tomato juice-based, non-alcoholic shot traditionally served with tequila in Mexico.)
Ilana generously agreed to dig the recipe out of her closet and share it with the Eatscape. It's the first time the recipe has been made public. Here it is:
18 ounces tomato juice
9 ounces orange juice
1/3 cup lime juice
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon Tabasco sauce (or hot sauce)
1/3 teaspoon horseradish
1 teaspoon sugar
1 dash salt
1 teaspoon pepper
1/4 teaspoon celery salt
pinch of cayenne (optional)
Combine all ingredients and stir until dry ingredients have dissolved, then refrigerate for several hours.
Try it out and let us know how it goes!
